Psalm 34:8, “Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him”
Psalm 139:14, “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made”
(1) WAKE UP
Decide to have a good day. Psalm 118:24, “This is the day the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and be glad in it”
(2) DRESS UP
The best way to dress up is to put on a smile. A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks. I Samuel 16:7, “The Lord does not look at the things man looks at Man looks at outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart”
(3) SHUT UP
Say nice things and learn to listen. God gave us two ears and one mouth, so He must have meant for us to do twice as much listening as talking. Proverbs 13:3, “He who guards his lips guards his soul”
(4) STAND UP
For what you believe in. Stand for something or you will fall for anything. Galatians 6:9-10, “Let us not be weary in doing good; for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good”
(5) LOOK UP
To the Lord. Philippians 4:13 6, “I can do everything through the Lord who strengthens me”
(6) REACH UP
For something higher. Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path”
(7) LIFT UP
Your Prayers. Philippians 4:6, “Do not worry about anything; instead pray about everything”
A card beside an empty vase in the hotel room I stayed in offered this simple invitation, “For you we have a beautiful floral garden with numerous flowers, including zinnias, daisies, meadow sage, snap-dragons and many more. Please enjoy the view and please feel free to pick some flowers to put in your vase. For further details and floral clippers, just call or stop by the front desk.” As I glanced out the window of my hotel room, confirmed the presence of a beautiful garden, and the invitation gave me a choice. I could simply look and appreciate all the work of planting and tending the flowers; or I could become more than an admiring spectator by picking a bouquet, taking them to my room, and letting it become part of my life.
My brethren that is a wonderful picture of God’s gift of salvation. The Father planted His garden of reconciliation and redemption, and He invites us to take His Son into our hearts to find forgiveness and eternal life in Him. In Christ Jesus, He “has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light” (Colossians 1:12). And my brethren, God’s gift continues each day as He makes known to us “the riches of the glory of this mystery … which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). God has a beautiful gift for each of us in His garden of love, a bouquet that we can enjoy each and every day. All we have to do is partake of it!
I believe if God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it, and if He had a wallet, your photo would be in it. He sends you flowers every spring, a sunrise every morning and a sunset every evening. Whenever you want to talk to Him, He will listen to you. He could live anywhere in the universe, but He chose your heart to reside in. And what about the Christmas gift He sent you in Bethlehem when Christ our Savior was born; not to mention that Friday at Calvary, when His Son laid down His life for you. May God open our eyes to His many acts of goodness so we’ll never doubt His presence and His love, and above all remember the “Seven-ups of Knee Mail”?
God loves His children not because of who they are but because of who He is.
