As a believer in Christ, have you ever stopped to think how God provides us with the little things that many times we take for granted? Take for example the story of Pastor Harold Springstead who was driving along, on his way to preach at a little country church, when he felt a sudden vibration. As the 78-year-old pastor maneuvered his car to a stop off the road he found that a tire had gone flat. Only minutes after stopping a trucker pulled up behind him and a young man jumped out, assessed the situation, and cheerfully changed the tire. Pastor Springstead got to the service in plenty of time, and it was not until later that he realized his car didn’t even have a jack! It was only a minor problem. He was a retired faithful servant of God. It was a tiny congregation. We might think God would be too busy with larger and more important needs than to be concerned about a flat tire and a tiny church congregation in the country.
However, His promise to provide for the needs of His people covers little things as well as the big ones, but more importantly, our God in His infinite wisdom and grace, has seen to it that we have everything we need to produce “life and godliness.” The inspired and Eternal Word of God tell us, “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue” (2 Peter 1:3). The next verse also tell us, “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust” (v. 4). My friend, this all-sufficient tool is, of course, the written Word of God, much of which came through the incarnate Word, Jesus Christ, who in turn claimed it came from God the Father: “For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me” (John 17:8).

Further thoughts:
My beloved, the written and inspired Word of God, is the only source of our faith and the only hope of salvation to the lost souls of this dying world. “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). Aren’t you glad that this Word in which our faith is grounded is forever alive, “being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever” (1 Peter 1:23), and not to be altered, edited, or supplemented. “If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life” (Revelation 22:18-19).
We must live our lives by the words of this book, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). For the believer in Christ, bread may represent the Bible, Jesus, Christian fellowship, or any of the provisions God has made for our spiritual needs. My friend, He cares for us and He’s ready to feed us, but His offer is not unconditional. He promised to provide for our daily needs for those who in obedience have separated themselves to live and to eat from the hand of God. The Lord cares for all who willingly and humbly receive their physical and spiritual food from Him. Thus, to ensure that the “great and precious promises” regarding “life and godliness” are ours, we must believe, guard, and follow the teachings of God’s precious and inspired Word. “Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou has heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 1:13).
In You, O Lord, we take delight,
Our every need You can supply;
We long to do what’s true and right,
So, Lord, on You we will rely.

Nothing is too great for God to accomplish, nothing too small for His attention.
His Eternal Word 
Great word! He is Jehovah Jireh, our Provider – He IS Faithful, Trustworthy and always showers His loving grace upon us. Sometimes our ‘waiting’ is a wee bit rough, but He is ALWAYS right on time!
