2 Corinthians 6:2, “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation”

Imagine yourself as a writer, typing away on a personal computer. You’re in the middle of creating a multipage article. The words are flowing freely, and you’re beginning to think about your acceptance speech for the Pulitzer Prize. However, suddenly and without warning, the lights dim and your computer screen blinks. From an adjoining office you hear someone yell, “Hit the save button!” But it’s too late. You were so intent on getting your ideas down that you failed to save any of it. When the electricity went off, your document vanished. It’s gone forever because it wasn’t saved.

My beloved, what’s true of computer documents is also true of people. Every person who rejects Jesus Christ will realize when death comes, which sometimes strikes more suddenly than an electrical outage, that it’s too late to “hit the save button.” According to the Bible, God’s Eternal Word, our destiny is sealed for eternity when we die. That’s why we are urged to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ today (Acts 16:31; 2 Corinthians 6:2). Imagine the horror of realizing it’s too late. You will have lost everything – forever.

Do you think you’ll always have tomorrow to “it the save button”? Please don’t put off receiving Jesus Christ as your Savior any longer, or you may end up like the rich man in Jesus’ illustration of Luke 16. Please, if you don’t know Christ as Savior, trust Him today, because tomorrow may be too late.

Closing thoughts:

Samantha knew her grandpa pretty well. She was well aware that he had gone to church all his life and that he was a very good man. She was glad that he had lived an admirable, respectable life. Yet, she knew that hose things couldn’t give him eternal life. So one day while she and her 85-year-old grandfather were riding in the car, this high school senior asked, “Grandpa, have you been born again?”

What Samantha didn’t know was that her grandfather’s former secretary had recently been witnessing to him. This made Samantha’s question another reason for him to consider his spiritual condition. Not long after Samantha’s query, her grandfather and her grandmother were listening to a message by Billy Graham on television and prayed to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. Just a few weeks later, Samantha’s grandfather died and was ushered into eternal fellowship with God.

My beloved, has anyone asked you Samantha’s question? If not, let me ask you: Have you been born again? All of us are dead in our sins, until we are given spiritual life through faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus is the only way to eternal life with God. Any other avenue you take is a dead end. Take time this very hour to consider Samantha’s question.

The only way to live forever is to be born again.
